Richard Delahoy

Richard Delahoy has been a member of the judging panel since 2019.

After an initial 24-year career in commercial banking, including a period financing transport assets, in 1998 Richard set up a consultancy business providing practical advice on commercial and regulatory matters to coach and bus operators, with a focus on small- and medium-sized fleets.

For 17 years Richard was also the administrator of the Guild of British Coach Operators, including establishing and running the Guild’s Driver CPC training centre.

Additionally, Richard is a qualified Transport Manager and the holder of a PCV driving licence for over 40 years, as well as being a Chartered Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport. He was also responsible for compiling the Confederation of Passenger Transport’s Cost Index from 2004 to 2019.  He has recently retired from his business after 26 years and now spends a lot of time researching and writing about the history of the bus and coach industry, as well as travelling widely by bus.

With his background in banking, confidentiality and discretion are second nature to him and are reflected in his approach to judging.
